It’s not about pop culture. It’s not about dressing up in costumes. It’s not about celebrities. It’s not for people to go to and be like “Ooooo I’m so cool because I’m so nerdy because I like this stuff”.
I miss the way Comic Con used to be. It’s hard for me to even look forward to it anymore because I feel like the convention lost its glory. I feel like people just want to go to it because it’s one of the biggest things that San Diego has to offer and they feel like it’s the cool place to go.
I grew up loving comic book superheroes. I still do. I love the world and I appreciate it. I just can’t help but feel like a lot of the convention’s attendees don’t appreciate it the way true comic book fans do. I mean, if you have no idea who Stan Lee is, or can’t distinguish between DC or Marvel, or realize that movies like X-Men screwed up and didn’t stay faithful to the comics, then I don’t like that you’re the reason Comic Con sells out and sucks now. If your reason for going to Comic Con is Twilight or some BS like that, I will hit you.
Eh. Just wish that Comic Con was a true comic based convention instead of being some well-known pop culture whatevers.
Yesterday was a really fun day. Went to Disneyland to celebrate Ms. Trini Sadangsal’s birthday. I’m glad everyone had a great time, especially my adings Derek and Denise, excluding the fact that we got stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean at like 11:30PM and we all got sick of that song… Overall it was a fun summer day and I’m looking forward to more!
